CATL Teases Five-Minute EV Charge With Longer Range Than BYD
CATL announced its new Shenxing battery provides a range of 520 kilometres with just five minutes of charge, surpassing BYD's claim of 470 kilometres from the same charging time.
CATL is currently the world's largest battery maker, holding 38% of the global battery market, while BYD holds 17.2%.
Due to US tariffs implemented during the previous administration, CATL and BYD's batteries may not be used in US-made cars, creating a competitive disadvantage for these companies.
CATL currently supplies batteries to major car manufacturers such as Tesla, BMW, and Ford.
Charge in a few minutes and drive 1000 kilometers: car manufacturers are looking forward to spectacular batteries. Should drivers better wait with the purchase of an electric car?
