Car allegedly ‘driven at Jewish schoolboys’ treated as religiously aggravated assault
Police say the case is being treated as a religiously aggravated assault after a car drove toward three Jewish schoolboys.
On April 20, a car mounted the kerb in Barnet and drove toward three Jewish schoolboys, prompting The Metropolitan Police to treat the incident as a religiously aggravated assault.
The incident occurred at 3.40pm on Holders Hill Road, where the boys were visibly Jewish; the father of one told the BBC his son was left 'shaken, but with it.'
Hasmonean High School's headteacher alerted parents to the police investigation, while authorities ask anyone with information to contact police quoting reference 2017/24APR.
On Wednesday, the Met announced a community protection team of 100 extra officers, aiming to provide a 'more visible, intelligence led and co-ordinated presence' safeguarding Jewish communities.
Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley previously stated 300 more officers are needed to tackle rising antisemitism across London, while the Community Security Trust urges witnesses to report details.
