Arbel Yehud, a Hamas hostage released last January after being abducted in the Kibbutz of Nir Oz on October 7, 2023, appealed to the constitutional commission of the Israeli parliament calling for negotiation rather than war, believing that the government was sacrificing the hostages still held captive.

About four months after her release, Yehud arrived at the Knesset Constitution Committee and spoke to the MKs in an attempt to convince them to return the hostages and stop the war. Arbel described the difficult experiences she went through in captivity: "I was severely beaten and thrown into isolation for long days without food."
