Capital Region placed under an extreme cold watch Saturday and Sunday — extremely cold conditions

Dangerously low wind chills between 20 and 35 below zero could cause frostbite in as little as 10 minutes, National Weather Service said.

At 12:51 a.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service released an extreme cold watch valid from Saturday 6 p.m. until Sunday 1 p.m. for Northern Warren and Southeast Warren as well as Saratoga, Washington, Schenectady, Albany, Rensselaer, Greene, Columbia, Ulster and Dutchess counties.The weather service says, “Dangerously cold wind chills between 20 and 35 degrees below below possible.”
