Second lawsuit filed against former Canton Township treasurer
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — 57-year-old Peggy VanDeKieft is serving a five year prison sentence in Pierre. VanDeKieft, trusted as the treasurer of a Canton, South Dakota's township for almost 20 years, wrote out more than a half million dollars in fraudulent checks. In addition to time behind bars, she's also supposed to pay $511,004.04 in restitution. Township members tell KELOLAND News they've yet to see any effort of her repaying those funds. …
