The most important film festival in the world starts with Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lawrence and many other Hollywood stars. This year, however, the highlight could be a German production that has been whispered about in the industry for months.

The Berlin-based director Masha Schilinski is surprisingly present in the Cannes competition. Stars like Tom Cruise, Emma Stone, Tom Hanks and Kristen Stewart also come to the 78th film festival.

For eight years there has been no German film in the international competition of Cannes. Now there is a film with "Looking into the sun" that was shot in the Altmark. A conversation with the director.

The Cannes Film Festival will start on 13 May. Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise will be present, Kristen Stewart and Scarlett Johansson will be making directing debuts. Germany is also strongly represented.
