Canadian animated short The Girl Who Cried Pearls wins Oscar
- Montreal animators Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short for *The Girl Who Cried Pearls* at the 98th Academy Awards in Hollywood on Sunday.
- The acclaimed Montreal duo previously captured global attention with their 2007 short film *Madame Tutli-Putli*, which launched a stellar 20-year collaboration with the National Film Board .
- Voice actor Colm Feore, artistic director Brigitte Henry, and composer Patrick Watson assembled an orchestra of local musicians for the film's instrumental score.
