- An expression of interest in September 2024 produced submissions that led Carney to determine two consortiums met the navy's demanding requirements, while he is ramping up defence spending to meet NATO targets in the coming years.
- Canada plans to replace its current fleet of four aging submarines with up to 12 submarines over the next decade, as the Canadian military says only one of four is fit to deploy for high readiness.
- Carney is in Germany today and is scheduled to visit the TKMS manufacturing facility Tuesday afternoon.
