Canada’s Concessions Have Meant Little to Trump Administration: U.S. Trade Czar
Greer said Washington sees little progress and will not reward Ottawa for reversing two digital policy measures.
The U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer stated the Trump administration will not give Canada credit for its trade concessions, including dropping the digital services tax and rolling back the Online Streaming Act.
Prime Minister Mark Carney took actions aimed at advancing trade talks with the United States.
Washington and Mexico have started formal negotiations on the Canada-U.S.-Mexico trade agreement, but no such talks have begun with Canada.
Greer stated he is in weekly contact with Canadian officials and has offered proposals to improve relations, hoping a deal between President Trump and Carney could overcome barriers.
