Ontario Police Warn of Increase in Driveway Paving and Roofing Scams

The Ontario Provincial Police issued a warning on Tuesday about increasing driveway paving and roofing scams happening across the province.
These scams usually occur between April and October and involve contractors pressuring homeowners to pay cash upfront for poor-quality work before disappearing.
Victims report that scammers often use fake names, false IDs, unmarked vehicles, and professional materials like flyers and websites to appear credible.
Joe Brisebois of the OPP stated, "They will ask for cash upfront," leave bad work, and "you will never hear from them again," urging caution.
The OPP advises residents to avoid unsolicited door-to-door offers, research companies carefully, get multiple quotes, avoid advance payments, and report suspicious activity at 1-888-310-1122.
