- Cal Fire said in its statement that Devastating Pyrotechnics Inc. and Blackstar Fireworks failed to file proper importation documents with the State Fire Marshal's Office, did not report lost fireworks, and possessed fireworks without required local permits.
- Just after 6 p.m. on July 1, the warehouse exploded near County Road 23 and County Road 86A in Esparto, Yolo County, sparking a fire that burned nearly 80 acres and led San Jose, Cloverdale and St. Helena to cancel July Fourth shows.
- Officials said the administrative probe has ended while a criminal investigation continues; State Fire Marshal Daniel Berlant said, "Since the explosion, our arson and bomb investigators and deputy state fire marshals have been laser focused on not only determining the circumstances leading up to the incident, but also whether or not the operators were working with their state-issued licenses."
- The State Fire Marshal plans to convene a Public Safety Fireworks Enforcement Task Force to review enforcement and state fireworks rules after California's DOJ declined investigations, leaving them to Cal Fire and local agencies.
