Cadillac F1 owners Mark Walter and TWG Global face class-action lawsuit
The complaint says affiliated insurers diverted about $17 billion from annuity policyholders into Walter’s business network and concealed federal investigations.
- Cadillac Formula 1 shareholder Mark Walter faces a class-action lawsuit filed in the Southern District of Florida, with Florida resident Ira Rosner alleging the companies intentionally withheld key financial disclosures from policyholders.
- The complaint alleges that insurance affiliates including Delaware Life Insurance and Group 1001 funneled approximately 42% of assets—around $17 billion—into Walter's private network, enabling acquisitions of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers, and Andretti Global.
- A Group 1001 Insurance spokesperson acknowledged the suit, stating, "No court has ruled that Group 1001 Insurance or Delaware Life Insurance Company did anything wrong," while TWG Global denied plans to offload Formula 1 assets.
- Walter recently agreed to sell his stakes in the Lakers and a Premier League side, having previously received almost $1 billion from Clearlake regarding a 25% holding in Chelsea alongside Todd Boehly.
- Although the civil lawsuit does not directly halt track operations and no criminal charges have been filed, the controversy raises questions about the future of Walter's sports holdings amid a concurrent fraud investigation.
