The Mexican Caribbean Council (CMCM), chaired by David Ortiz Mena, met yesterday with Bernardo Cueto, Secretary of Tourism for Quintana Roo, and they agreed that hotels will not be jointly liable for collecting the Visitax tax. Authorities are still working on alternatives to increase the effectiveness of Visitax collection, a fee that already exists and that foreign visitors must pay to enjoy Quintana Roo's attractions.
