Busch's father, son combine for emotional tribute
Brexton Busch finished sixth in the Young Lions division as he returned to racing in a tribute to his father after Kyle Busch’s death.
On Monday, driver Brexton finished sixth at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the CookOut Summer Shootout, marking his first competition since the death of his father, two-time champion Kyle Busch.
Kyle Busch, a two-time champion in the national series, died on May 21 at age 41 following complications from severe pneumonia.
Participating in the Young Lions division, Brexton gained experience in a developmental series designed for young drivers aspiring to race professionally.
Fellow drivers have continued honoring the late champion, with many displaying tributes on their vehicles during races to recognize his contributions to the sport.
The racing community remains focused on the season, while the organization continues to process the loss of one of the sport's most iconic figures.
