The mayor of an Italian town on Lake Como is facing accusations of personal vendetta and abuse of power after he announced a complete ban on cycling on about 30 streets in the town starting in September. Many believe Alessandro Rapinese made the drastic decision after he was run over by an electric bike as he was leaving town hall a few months ago. Local residents and activists are now protesting with demonstrations and petitions.
The popular Italian city of Como, located on Lake Como in northern Italy, has decided to restrict the use of electric bicycles and bicycles. The mayor was recently hit by one. The new rules for restricted traffic zones will apply to some streets in the historic center.
