Building awning collapses in front of Brooklyn subway station

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, AUG 3 – The collapse was caused by corroded steel beams due to poor maintenance, with no injuries reported and service suspended at the Clark Street subway entrance.

(PIX11) – A large awning collapsed onto the sidewalk in front of a Brooklyn subway station Sunday morning.  Video posted to social media shows the large overhang that reads “Hotel St. George” crashing to the ground just after 7 a.m. near 100 Henry Street.
