No compromise version of this bill, in the face of the positions of the Senate and the Assembly on the suspension of pension reform or the freezing of social minimums and retirement pensions.
A few minutes after having widely adopted the draft budget of the Social Security for 2026, the senators failed to reach agreement on a joint joint committee. Result: the text returns to the National Assembly.
After the Senate voted on a new version of the Secu budget, the text was considered by the Joint Joint Committee. Not surprisingly, MPs and senators did not find any common ground. The bill will come back to the National Assembly at the end of the week.
The failure of this joint committee is no surprise, as the two chambers had led to very different versions of the bill.
The Joint Joint Committee, as expected, failed to reach agreement on a joint text which could be put to the vote in both chambers. The shuttle will resume at second reading.
As expected, MPs and senators did not succeed this Wednesday in granting their violins, but the coming tribulations of the copy at the Palais-Bourbon will, on the other hand, have a crucial impact on all the budget negotiations.
