- On August 14, 2025, sixteen members of the BSF were honored with gallantry awards for their exceptional bravery shown during Operation Sindoor along India’s western frontier.

President Approves 167 Gallantry, Service Awards For Armed Forces
The Centre awarded the Vir Chakra, the country’s third-highest wartime gallantry award, to nine Indian Air Force (IAF) officers, including fighter pilots, who targeted terrorist group headquarters in Pakistan’s Muridke and Bahawalpur, as well as military assets there.

A total of 36 air warriors of the Indian Air Force who displayed courage and indomitable bravery in Operation Sindoor will be honoured with gallantry awards on the occasion of 15 August (Independence Day). One Shaurya Chakra, 9 Vir Chakras and 26 Air Force Medals (Gallantry) will be awarded.
