The European Commission has registered a new European Citizens' Initiative. A group of citizens from Austria wants to introduce an unconditional basic income across the European Union. "Of course, the question arises: who would still work?" the authors admit.
On Tuesday, the European Commission reported on the registration of a European Citizens' Initiative that calls for a universal basic income that allows Europeans to "delink" their livelihoods from working capacity, especially in view of the advance of Artificial Intelligence (IA) and robotics by which, in the eyes of the promoters of the initiative, "soon there will be not enough jobs" for everyone in the EU.
