The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, confirmed this Monday in Riga the full allocation of EUR 150 billion in defence loans under the SAFE programme. This is a measure which, according to Brussels, aims to strengthen the military capabilities of the Member States and respond to the growing threat posed by Russian aggression in Ukraine and instability on the continent's eastern borders.
