Brush fire chars hundreds of acres at Camp Pendleton, leads to evacuation warnings in Oceanside
CAL FIRE and base crews responded as the blaze sent smoke across nearby communities and threatened critical infrastructure, officials said.
On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, a brush fire ignited near the November Training Area at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, quickly growing to hundreds of acres and triggering evacuation warnings for northern residential areas.
The blaze, dubbed the "November Fire," was reported about 10 a.m. near Wire Mountain Housing. The fire department immediately responded as smoke became visible to base residents and surrounding communities.
Cal Fire deployed air tankers and ground crews to combat flames, while officials evacuated the Marine Memorial Golf Course and the Oceanside Police Department evacuated the Oceanside Municipal Golf Course.
Evacuation warnings remain in effect for zones SDC-0429, SDC-0317, and SDC-0372, while authorities established a temporary evacuation center at El Camino High School at 400 Rancho Del Oro.
Onshore winds continue to push smoke toward Bonsall and Fallbrook, prompting air quality advisories. U.S. Representative Mike Levin stated his office is "closely monitoring" the situation and coordinating with local officials.
