Wild's Brock Faber Back on the Practice Rink
Coach John Hynes said doctors cleared Brock Faber to skate as the Wild await a return timeline for the defenseman after surgery.
Minnesota Wild defenseman Brock Faber returned to the ice at the TRIA Rink in full practice uniform on Wednesday, marking his first skating session since suffering a skull fracture in late Sept.
Faber has been sidelined since late Sept after a deflected puck hit him near the left ear during an exhibition loss to Dallas, requiring surgery to repair the fracture.
Coach John Hynes noted last week that doctors cleared the blueliner to begin skating, and video showed Faber shooting and smiling alongside teammates currently rehabbing injuries.
The Wild, tied with Edmonton for the Western Conference-best position, have relied on younger players David Spacek and Matt Kiersted while captain Jared Spurgeon remains out of the lineup.
Further updates on Faber's potential return to play are expected Thursday when the team practices ahead of back-to-back games Friday and Saturday at Grand Casino Arena.
