Brits face up to 3-hour delays in airports during half-term as travel advice issued
Booking.com said 59% of UK travellers expect delays, and some airports have seen queues of up to three hours.
UK holidaymakers face queues of up to three hours at European airports due to the European Union's Entry-Exit System , which ramped up on April 10, affecting Spain, Portugal, France, and Italy.
The EES requires travellers from third-party nations, including the UK, to provide fingerprints and photographs when entering the 29-country Schengen Area, a process conducted at foreign airports.
A Booking survey reveals 59% of UK travellers expect delays, while 56% plan to arrive earlier than usual; 52% of those who have already travelled reported experiencing disruptions.
Travel demand for Greece has surged as the country does not impose EES checks on British travellers, with Greece's market share of UK bookings rising from 7.7% in mid-April to nearly 10% by month's end.
Ryan Pearson, regional manager for the UK and Ireland at Booking, urged preparation ahead of May half-term, stating: "We want to help travellers feel informed and prepared before they leave.
