British comedian Jimmy Carr in talks to host BBC reboot of Top Gear, reports
Production bosses see Carr as an ideal host, while casting directors are seeking additional talent for a new-look ensemble, sources said.
Comedian Jimmy Carr is reportedly in talks to host a potential Top Gear reboot, according to The Sun, as the BBC plans to revive the long-running motoring show.
Production paused in 2022 after Freddie Flintoff was involved in a serious crash while filming. Before that, Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond hosted until 2015, succeeded by Flintoff, Paddy McGuinness, and Chris Harris.
Casting directors are currently seeking talent to join Jimmy in a new-look ensemble. Production is reportedly considering a woman and online celebrities to complement the comedian.
Despite these reports, a BBC Studios spokesperson told Newsquest the Top Gear brand thrives elsewhere, but there is no update on the television show at this time.
Aiming to revive the show, Production has their sights set on Jimmy as the ideal host for Top Gear. His interest stems from a genuine passion for cars and desire for mainstream work.
