Lengthy delays at Bristol Airport after runway disruption
The runway closure affected more than 30 outbound flights and hundreds of passengers, with disruptions expected to continue into Saturday morning.
On Friday evening, Bristol Airport suspended all flights due to a runway defect, keeping operations grounded until 8am Saturday.
Airport officials halted services at 6pm Friday to inspect and repair the damaged runway, which affected more than 30 outbound flights on Saturday alone.
Passengers diverted nearly 200 miles to Southend faced extended delays, while a Jet2 spokesperson said: "We are experiencing delays with our transport providers" due to peak demand.
Operations resumed at 8am Saturday, though the airport warned of continued disruption; Jet2 added: "We are expecting disruption to our flying programme on 8th August."
Welsh mum Charmaine Hines remained stranded in Barcelona with three children, facing transport costs around £600 while awaiting potential airline refunds.
