Bridge renamed in honor of Vietnam War Hero

FENTON (WIVT/WBGH) - A local bridge is being renamed after a Vietnam War Hero. The new span carrying Route 79 over the Chenango River is now named the Herman E. Anders Junior Memorial Bridge. Anders was a decorated soldier, earning the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and National Defense honors. He was the second combat death from Chenango County in the Vietnam War.
