NewLimit Raises $435m for Liver Trials, and Other Financings
The startup said the round will fund its epigenetic reprogramming work and support a first clinical trial for a liver medicine.
- Longevity startup NewLimit raised $435 million in a Series C round on Tuesday to launch its first clinical trial for a liver reprogramming therapy next year.
- Founded in 2021, NewLimit was established by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, venture capitalist Blake Byers, and CEO Jacob Kimmel to develop epigenetic reprogramming therapies for reversing cellular age.
- The Series C values NewLimit at $3.1 billion, making it one of the largest biotech rounds this year. Founders Fund led the financing, joined by Thrive Capital, Eli Lilly Ventures, Greenoaks, and Quiet Capital.
- Kimmel cited "the breakthrough discovery of a prototype medicine that reverses cell age" as the driver for accelerating the timeline. The funding enables the company to advance its lead candidate into human testing.
- NewLimit expects its liver therapy to accelerate recovery from injury and dietary damage. "Our trial next year will reveal how liver age reprogramming translates into humans for the first time," Kimmel said.
