Brewers use big inning to beat Padres, win fifth straight
The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the San Diego Padres 6-4 on Tuesday at American Family Field, extending their winning streak to five games with Joey Ortiz homering for the first time in nearly 10 months.
Milwaukee erased a 2-1 deficit with a five-run fourth inning, featuring a two-run double by Brice Turang and a sacrifice fly by Ortiz off knuckleballer Matt Waldron.
Rookie Brandon Sproat earned his first career victory, allowing three runs over 5 1/3 innings, while Miguel Andujar's solo home run and RBI double kept San Diego within striking distance.
The Brewers improved to 23-16 overall and 14-8 at home in the NL Central, while San Diego holds a 24-17 record heading into Wednesday's second game of the series.
Michael King is set to start for San Diego on Wednesday against Milwaukee's Jacob Misiorowski, who carries a 2.45 ERA into the matchup.
