MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WISCONSIN, JUL 8 – Al LeBoeuf, 65, underwent prostate surgery after a cancer diagnosis during Spring Training and is expected to return before the end of July, Brewers officials said.
- Al LeBoeuf, the chief hitting instructor for the Milwaukee Brewers, underwent prostate surgery on Monday and is currently away from team activities.
- LeBoeuf's surgery followed a prostate cancer diagnosis detected during Spring Training after a PSA test part of his preseason exam.
- LeBoeuf, 65, joined the Brewers organization 16 seasons ago, worked as a Triple-A hitting coach for six years, and was promoted last October.
- Outfielder Sal Frelick shared that the Brewers received positive news about LeBoeuf’s surgery, which has lifted the team's spirits, and they anticipate his return to the lineup soon.
- LeBoeuf is targeting a return by the end of July, and the Brewers will not replace him on the coaching staff during his recovery.
