She was born in Batesville on May 9, 1956, the daughter of Edward and Virginia Adams Wagner. She was married to Glenn Steele on April 7, 1973 and her husband of 53 years survives. Other survivors include two sons Brian (Molly) Steele of Carmel and Ed (Kelly) Steele of New Holland, Ohio; one daughter Tonya Steele of Versailles; four grandchildren Jack, Blake, Savannah, and Nate Steele; four brothers Paul, Steve, and Carl Wagner all of Versailles, and Lee Wagner of Milan; two sisters Jenny Palmer of Versailles and Wanda Terry of Mississippi along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Raymond, Robert, and Harry Wagner, and her sister Margaret. Mrs. Steele was a former employee of US Shoe in Osgood, Print-Pak in Greensburg, and retired from Delta Faucet in Greensburg.

She enjoyed going to yard sales, gardening, cooking, and loved her dogs Bruiser and Madison. Brenda was proud to be the wife of a Marine and the light of her life was her four grandchildren. She was a member of the Versailles American Legion Auxiliary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 12 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Sandy Becker officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with Legion Auxiliary services at 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Legion Auxiliary in care of the funeral home.
