Never since its foundation in 1946 have the Bregenz Festival reached as many people as in the anniversary year 2026. The 80th season ended with around 275,000 visitors.

The 80th Bregenz Festival concluded on Sunday evening with the expected new attendance record. A total of 274,795 guests attended the 80 events over five weeks, the festival announced in a press release. Verdi's "La traviata," performed on the lake, drew 193,474 viewers. The opera will be revived on July 22, 2027; the day before, Othmar Schoeck's "Penthesilea" will open the new season as the festival's resident opera.
