Editor’s note: This is a developing story.  DeKALB – After 5 p.m., DeKalb police responded to a weapons offense Friday near the West Ridge Apartments on Ridge Drive. NIU sent an email to students at around 6:30 p.m. stating the DeKalb Police Department was investigating a weapons offense and asked students to avoid the area.
