IPL 2027: CSK Appoint Albie Morkel, Gareth Batty, Mohit Sharma as Assistant Coaches Under Head Coach Zaheer Khan
- On Tuesday, Chennai Super Kings confirmed Albie Morkel and Gareth Batty as assistant coaches while appointing Mohit Sharma as bowling coach for the 2027 IPL season.
- The franchise overhauled its coaching staff on Monday, parting ways with Eric Simmons, Tommy Simsek, Rajiv Kumar, Greg King, and Michael Hussey ahead of restructuring for 2027.
- Morkel, a key member of CSK's 2010 and 2011 championship squads, joins alongside Batty, who coached Surrey to three consecutive County Championship titles before his arrival.
- Mohit returns to Chepauk for his fourth stint, recalling his Purple Cap-winning debut season in 2014 when he claimed 23 wickets across 16 matches for the franchise.
- Head coach Zaheer Khan deflected trade speculation by stating, "This much is enough for now," as CSK prepares to submit retention lists by November 15 before the December 16, 2026 mini-auction.
