- On Thursday, six members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, notifying the Speaker in separate letters.
- In letters titled `Notice of Resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party and Defection to the All Progressives Congress `, the lawmakers said crises had produced factional leadership within the PDP.
- Invoking the law, the lawmakers cited Section 109 of the 1999 Constitution and said their defection was in line with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution.
- The lawmakers accused Governor Dauda Lawal's administration of poor leadership, saying the PDP-led Zamfara State government failed to address insecurity and fulfil campaign promises.
- Through separate formal notices to the Speaker, the lawmakers submitted resignation and defection letters on Thursday, with further explanations included in their notices.
