Teenage Girl Critically Injured in Dog Attack
Passers-by intervened to stop a large 10-year-old mixed breed dog attack on a 16-year-old girl, who was critically injured and airlifted to hospital for treatment.
- On Thursday at about 11.30, emergency services were called to Broughton Street, Singleton, where they found a 16-year-old girl suffering critical injuries to her head, neck and body.
- Police say the girl was visiting a friend when she was attacked inside the home by a large 10-year-old mixed-breed dog that lived at the residence.
- Passers-By intervened, pulling the dog off the girl before calling triple-0, and NSW Ambulance paramedics treated her at the scene before she was flown to John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle.
- Hunter Valley Police District officers destroyed the dog with the owner's consent, and Singleton Council rangers and council officers assisted police at the scene.
- Inquiries are continuing, with police following up into Thursday afternoon and police urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
