Braves activate SS Ha-Seong Kim, put OF Eli White on concussion IL
Kim is set for his season debut after offseason finger surgery, while White goes on the seven-day concussion injured list.
On Monday, the Atlanta Braves activated shortstop Ha-Seong Kim from the injured list, clearing the way for his season debut Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs.
Kim spent the offseason recovering from surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right middle finger, then batted.286 across nine rehab games with Double-A Columbus and Triple-A Gwinnett.
To accommodate the roster change, the Braves placed outfielder Eli White on the 7-day concussion injured list after he collided with the wall at Dodger Stadium Sunday defending against Los Angeles Dodgers hitter Max Muncy.
Manager Walt Weiss expressed concern for White, who must clear concussion protocol before returning; Kim's activation moves Atlanta closer to the deep, balanced roster the organization envisioned.
Tuesday's game at Truist Park is scheduled for 7:15 p.m., with Braves right-hander Grant Holmes facing Chicago Cubs right-hander Colin Rea in the series opener.
