‘Wicked: For Good’ Eyes $150 Million Opening At Weekend Box Office After Huge Take In Previews
Universal's Wicked: For Good earned $30.8 million in domestic previews, driven by strong presales and a number 1 iTunes soundtrack despite mixed reviews.
- Thursday, Wicked: For Good earned $30.8 million in domestic previews, the best showing of the year and surpassing last year's $19.2 million from the first film.
- Earlier this year Universal launched promotions that began Oct. 8, including a Dancing With the Stars integration that boosted awareness and made the film Fandango's top PG preseller of 2025.
- Monday Amazon Prime screenings generated $6,100,000 from 1,050 theatres, and Wednesday advance shows added $6,500,000 from 2,300 locations, while Thursday previews earned $18,200,000 from 3,350 cinemas.
- Estimates put the opening weekend in the $125 million-plus domestic range and north of $200 million worldwide, but the studio said anything more than $115 million in North America would be a huge victory.
- The soundtrack album is number 1 on iTunes with four tracks on the iTunes singles chart, helping position Universal's musical epic as a major 2025 release.
