The French lawyer of the Franco-Algérien writer, who has been incarcerated in Algeria since 16 November 2024, has no more news of his 80-year-old client.
The repression stimulates ingenuity and even artistic inspiration. With this reasoning one can reach an extreme conclusion: the only real space of freedom in the world is prison. It is necessary to make a premise: the rule only applies to writers, or rather, “for what the writers tell about their experiences and, above all, for those with a certain sense of humor”.

The writer has been deprived of his rights of defence since his arrest in Algiers last November. His lawyer announces that he has taken the UN and international bodies to denounce the arbitrary nature of his detention.
