Boston Schools, City Offices Closed Monday Due to Incoming Snowstorm
- On Sunday, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu declared a snow emergency and announced a citywide parking ban with towing on major roads starting at 8 a.m., as City Manager Eric D. Batista confirmed.
- The National Weather Service warned of a widespread 12-20 inches of snow Sunday afternoon through Monday, with the heaviest snow between 5-11 p.m. and two-to-three inches per hour snow rates.
- Participating garages will offer parking for resident sticker holders starting at 6 a.m. Sunday, with municipal garages offering free parking from 8 p.m. Saturday, according to Mayor Wu.
- Travel disruption is already evident as more than 600 flights at Logan Airport are cancelled Sunday and over 250 on Monday, while the MBTA will run reduced commuter rail schedules and some buses on snow routes.
- Property owners are required to clear sidewalks and curb ramps within three hours after snowfall ends or three hours after sunrise and curbside trash will follow a Monday holiday schedule with most neighborhoods delayed one day.
