Bologna fires coach Domenico Tedesco after just 4 matches, hires Raffaele Palladino on deal to 2029
Raffaele Palladino takes over after Bologna collected 1 point from four league games and scored only twice, the club said.
On Wednesday, Bologna FC dismissed head coach Domenico Tedesco after collecting one point from four Serie A matches, immediately appointing Raffaele Palladino on a multi-year deal.
Bologna's disappointing start left the club 16th in Serie A standings after scoring twice while conceding five goals in four matches, prompting officials to state they "cannot afford to wait any longer."
The 42-year-old Palladino previously managed Monza, Fiorentina, and Atalanta, winning 18 of 39 games last season and securing a seventh-place finish before becoming available this summer.
Palladino will lead his first training session Wednesday and manage Saturday's home match against Torino at the Renato Dall'Ara, beginning his immediate task to reverse the team's poor form.
This change marks the second Serie A dismissal this season, following Fiorentina's move to fire Fabio Grosso after three matches and rehire Paolo Vanoli, underscoring intense early-season pressure on new managers.
Only four months after his arrival, Domenico Tedesco was dismissed from his position as Bologna coach, currently 16 of Serie A. The Emilian club immediately formalized the arrival of Raffaele Palladino.
DOMENICO TEDESCO has been sacked as Bologna coach after a poor start to the season. He has been replaced by Raffaele Palladino, who has signed a contract until 2029.
