Boeing's new 737 assembly line starts moving in Everett
The North Line is expected to help Boeing raise 737 output to 52 jets a month by early 2027, the company said.
- On Monday, July 6, 2026, Boeing began operating a fourth 737 MAX assembly line at its Everett, Washington, factory, known internally as the North Line.
- The Everett plant previously housed production lines for the 747, 767, 777, and 787, but consolidation of 787 assembly in South Carolina left considerable available factory space.
- After consulting with the Federal Aviation Administration, Boeing is ramping 737 production from 42 to 47 jets monthly following strict limits imposed after a January 2024 Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9 midair blowout.
- Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg said in June the company would "load" the first aircraft onto the Everett line on July 6, describing it as a copy of the three 737 assembly lines in Renton.
- To compete with the Airbus A320neo family, Boeing is studying a production rate of 70 jets per month while aiming for 52 jets monthly by early 2027.
