Body pulled from raging Tijuana River identified as West African national

Summary by Ground News
The 61-year-old man was a member of a group of undocumented travelers attempting to cross the U.S./Mexico International Border earlier this week. Authorities said the group was separated from one another while crossing the Tijuana River Channel, west of the San Ysidro Port. This occurred as another winter storm battered the region with heavy rain. An individual that was apart of the group flagged down a Border Patrol agent in the area after witnessing the man struggle to exit the river. Agents were unable to reach the man at that point. San Diego Fire-Rescue swift water crews were able to pull the man's body from the river, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
