A crescendo of nervous speculation reached fever pitch in the city when the body of 20-year-old University of Houston junior Jade McKissic was pulled from Brays Bayou on September 15 – one in a string of seven so far unexplained bayou deaths reported in the Houston area last month.
Houston authorities denied the existence of a serial killer after finding more than 20 bodies in the swamps surrounding the city.
