Winnipeg Blue Bombers Clinch CFL Playoff Spot with 34-10 Win over B.C. Lions
Dru Brown threw two touchdown passes and the Blue Bombers scored 34 points after Zach Collaros left with an apparent injury.
On Friday, Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Collaros left the team's must-win game against the Lions with an apparent injury after being levelled by Lions defensive lineman Nathan Cherry late in the third quarter.
Winnipeg entered the regular-season finale needing a victory to earn a playoff spot for the 10th-straight season, but trailed the Lions 10-3 at halftime after a listless offensive performance during the first two quarters.
Backup quarterback Dru Brown replaced Collaros and completed a perfect 11-for-11 for 185 yards and two touchdowns, connecting with Dorian Singer and Nic Demski to lift the Blue Bombers to a 34-10 win.
This victory moves Winnipeg to a 9-9 record, tied with the Calgary Stampeders, with playoff slotting depending on Saturday's game between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Edmonton Elks.
If Saskatchewan loses, Winnipeg moves to third in the West Division and will face the Lions again in the Western Semifinal in Vancouver on Halloween at 1:30 p.m.
