Blips of Otago glimpsed in trailer for Netflix blockbuster
On Wednesday, Netflix unveiled the first trailer for the seven-episode adaptation of East of Eden, nearly four years after the project was initially announced.
Zoe Kazan wrote this adaptation of John Steinbeck's 1952 novel, a multigenerational saga focusing on the Trask family and antihero Cathy Ames, played by Florence Pugh.
The ensemble cast includes Christopher Abbott as Adam Trask, Mike Faist as Charles Trask, Tracy Letts as Cyrus Trask, Martha Plimpton as Faye, Joseph Zada as Cal Trask, Joe Anders as Aron Trask, and Hoon Lee as Lee.
Hailing from co-studios Fifth Season and Anonymous Content, the production was filmed in New Zealand and features co-showrunners Kazan and Jeb Stuart.
Garth Davis directs episodes 1-4, while Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre directs episodes 5-7, with the series launching in fall 2026.
