Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo of Galveston-Houston and named as his successor Bishop Joe S. Vásquez of Austin, Texas.

Pope Francis accepted the resignation of Cardinal Daniel DiNardo as archbishop of Galveston-Houston and appointed in his place Bishop Joseph Vásquez, who had served as interim apostolic administrator of Bishop Strickland's Diocese of Tyler.

The announcement of the change in leadership came at the same time Cardinal Daniel DiNardo resigned from the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
