Bird Flu Detected in Arctic Foxes on Svalbard

Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been found in arctic foxes in Norway for the first time, according to the Norwegian Veterinary Institute. Four fox pups in the Barentsburg area of Svalbard tested positive for the virus. The detection follows reports in late July of several sick foxes near the Russian settlement.
