Bentley unveils its first fully electric car
The luxury SUV reaches up to 876 hp and 375 miles of range as Bentley tests demand for an electric model.
- On Wednesday, Bentley Motors unveiled the Torcal, its first fully electric SUV, at a global debut in London, marking the brand's fourth model line alongside the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga.
- Bentley invested £350 million in its Crewe, England, headquarters to manufacture the Torcal, a project Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said supports 4,000 high-value local jobs in the region.
- Dual-Motor powertrains deliver 810 horsepower in the base model and 876 horsepower in the Torcal S, while a 113 kWh battery supports 400 kW charging, enabling a 10-to-80 percent charge in 16 minutes with up to 375 miles of range.
- First deliveries are expected in the second quarter of 2027, with the Torcal starting from £173,300 and the sportier S version priced at £200,000, positioning the SUV to attract new market segments.
- Bentley previously delayed its EV launch until 2026 and abandoned a 2030 all-electric target, citing customer readiness; the brand now emphasizes heritage through the 'Bentley Dynamic Symphony,' a recorded soundscape mimicking its V8 engine character.
