Ben-Gvir Claims Netanyahu Pledged to Keep Him Out of Next Gov't in Talks with European Countries
On Sunday, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir claimed the Prime Minister's Office pledged to European Union officials to exclude him from the next government following the October 27 elections.
Recent tensions between Likud and Otzma Yehudit have escalated as Ben-Gvir accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's party of attempting to reduce his Knesset representation to five seats despite polling showing eight.
Addressing Netanyahu directly, Ben-Gvir warned against seeking legitimacy from the left, declaring, "Bibi needs a strong Ben-Gvir, not a strong Eisenkot," referring to opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot.
Likud subsequently denied the allegations as "political spin," arguing that any future government would invite all Zionist parties to join based on established coalition principles.
With the October 27 elections approaching, the dispute highlights the volatile relationship between the two partners, though Ben-Gvir insists he remains committed to Netanyahu's premiership.
