- On July 4, 2025, James Plover was found guilty in Kelowna, B.C., of multiple charges including three related to uttering threats and one involving assault by strangulation.
- Plover was charged in connection with a case involving domestic violence and had been granted bail with a $500 deposit and strict protective measures in place since June 2024, prior to the attack.
- On the same day, Plover is accused of killing his separated spouse, Bailey Plover, at a parking area and seriously wounding another woman known to him.
